Case Study: Employees Riding for Cancer Research – Harry Perkins Institute
Woodside has a longstanding relationship with the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research in Western Australia, supporting its annual Cancer 200 Ride for the Perkins, a 200km two-day ride that raises funds for cancer research.
In 2024, the 13th year Woodside employees have participated in the ride, an impressive A$208,708 was raised by ‘Team Woodside’.
Woodside is proud of the dedication and effort shown by our people in both fundraising and training for this significant event.
In sharing his personal journey, Team Woodside Cancer 200 Ride captain, Craig emphasised the importance of supporting cancer research and advancing treatments. "For me, riding for cancer research signifies more than just a physical challenge. It is about supporting those impacted by cancer, advocating for improved treatments and ultimately striving for a world where cancer is eradicated," expressed Craig, reflecting on his eleven-year participation in the Perkins event.
Collectively, Team Woodside employees have raised over A$2.5 million since 2011, enabling critical research projects and helping discover kinder treatments, enhancing patient care. This fundraising achievement has resulted in Woodside being one of seven organisations inducted into the Perkins' ‘Million Dollar Club’, recognising the collective efforts of rider teams who have raised over a million dollars.
In addition to employee fundraising efforts, since 2019 Woodside has provided funding in support of a Dollar Match Day campaign, which has enabled the Perkins to leverage an addition A$3.1 million in donations.
