A Dream Job and Strong Community
Brian reflects on his 28-Year journey with Woodside.
Known to his team as "Flash," Brian Fitzroy has dedicated 28 years to Woodside, making him the company’s longest-serving First Nations employee.
Brian is one of approximately 168 First Nations employees contributing their skills and dedication at Woodside. This is in addition to 37 First Nations trainees and apprentices engaged via Programmed and seven scholarship recipients, vacation students and cadets.
Brian’s career at Woodside began in Karratha in 1994, and over nearly three decades, he’s contributed across various roles, from maintenance on RVs to the gas plant service area. Describing his job as a “dream role,” Brian shares that Woodside has always supported him and his family, providing both opportunity and a strong community.
Reflecting on his journey, Brian highlights the company’s evolving culture and the growth of opportunities for First Nations employees in the Pilbara District.
“Back in the ’90s, there weren’t many First Nations employees here. Now, young people have the chance to grow and go far,” he says. “All they need is confidence. With hard work, there’s nothing stopping them from reaching upper management.”
As he looks to the future and retiring one day, Brian is proud of his legacy and role in paving the way for future generations. “I feel very blessed. Woodside looked after me and my family, and it will be hard to leave when the time comes.”
